What to Wear for Engagement Photo Shoot
What to Wear for Timeless Engagement Photos
What should you wear for your engagement session? This is the most asked question I get in regards to engagement photos.
Here are a few things to consider when styling yourself for our session:
hair & makeup
Having your hair & make-up done. This is totally non-negotiable. Everyone wants to feel like a rock-star for their session. Your make-up probably looks beautiful every day, but when having portraits made, a professional make-up artist is a must. A professional (as in he/she went to school to be a MUA) will know the best contouring for your face, the best colors to accent your beautiful eyes, the best way to minimize pores and acne, and most importantly, he/she will know how the make-up photographs!
clean your ring
Go by the jewelry store and have that beautiful ring shined-up.
how many outfits
I highly recommend no more than two outfits. One semi-formal and one slightly casual.
Here's the short version: neutral colors - timeless - avoid high contrast - avoid stripes.
Gentlmen, tennis shoes are a no-no; seriously, you know I'm referencing the 90's dad look--hard pass. Are awesome kicks are your thing?! Bring it! Questioning what your fiance says to wear? Go to JCrew and let them dress you.
Never match. OMGee, let me repeat that. Do not match; if you show up matching, I'm sending you home. Consider complimentary colors for your significant other instead.
Jackets, both of you should bring a jacket. Men should always bring a sports jacket. Ladies, bring jewelry, shoes, and scarves.
P.S. Rent the damn dress already; I will not photograph you looking like a hot-mess.
