Ivy Place Intimate Elopement

Ivy Place Intimate Elopement

The Ivy Place, Lancaster, SC

When Amanda of Magnificient Moments Weddings contacted me, she told me she had a wild idea-- she said she often finds inspiration in interior design and that this stunning emerald green backsplash inspired her. As we collaborated, an idea for an styled elopement shoot began to unfurl. Keeping this inspiration image central, the story of our shoot, textures, overall aesthetic, and other vendors came together beautifully to create this shoot.

We wanted to tell the story of an intimate elopement, well appointed, and thoughtfully designed to celebrate the couple. Here in the South, we both feel that couples who choose to elope feel that they are missing out on some of the fun of wedding planning, as there are not many examples of thoughtful elopements outside of destination weddings. The idea that you can have your cake and eat it too at an elopement wedding was central to the story of this shoot. Even sweet elopements can, and should, reflect the meaningful traditional details that are important to the couple.

We drew from our original inspiration from the green backsplash--literally using that element of green glass tiles as our placecards. Amanda and I loved that copper was a staple element for Fall 2016 and utilized that in our barware. The bride’s dress was simplistic in shape, something we felt suited the space, mood, and intimacy of a small elopement.

Being that the venue, The Ivy Place, is a beautifully secluded and historic working farm & wedding venue, we wanted to downplay any rustic notes associated with a farm wedding. While nodding to the history of the land by using a wooden farm table from the property, and setting it gracefully on the house’s front lawn, we tried to balance history, legacy, and modern elements. Classic Party Rentals provided us with everything necessary to set up a table that would graciously host 6, and we borrowed a credenza from Amanda to create a small bar.

The final, yet most integral, part of the shoot was the real couple who offered to model for us. I love capturing authentic emotion and Jacob & Camryn were full of young love! Jacob left for Army training right after our shoot. Their personal love story lent itself so well to the mood of the shoot and we could not be more grateful for their involvement.
